METAL CASTING INOCULATION
We have designed a number of special-purpose wire delivery systems. The smaller
unit with six (6) drive rolls can handle up to 3/16" dia or 5mm dia. This
unit has been used to inoculate castings with cored wire and has also been used
to deliver solid aluminum wire to a six strand continuous steel caster. The
control offers safeguards to warn of "out-of-wire" and slippage. These
signals can be used to stop an automatic DISI casting line.

The larger unit is much heavier duty with the capability of
handling wire diameters of 10 to 25 mm. This control utilizes an encoder to
measure wire speed and was tied into the operating PLC for the casting line.
Wire speed and length could be regulated by the system's PLC control.
