1. PIPE MOLD WELDER
In the process of centrifugally casting steel pipe, the molds become eroded requiring weld rebuilding. The system shown employed a pressurized sub-arc weld process to reach inside the mold approximately four (4) feet.
2. DIE REPAIR
A customer asked for a special purpose machine to weld repair dies used for
making aluminum truck wheels. The sub-arc process was chosen for its innate
smoothness. Because of some of the long internal reaches required, a pressurized
flux system was utilized.
This machine is essentially a modified Vers-O-Weld with some added torch manipulation
features.
3. PLATE OVERLAY
We have designed and built a number of special controls for plate overlay utilizing five (5) torches.
One of our plate overlay customers asked us to find a better way to adjust the weld torch oscillation width and offset on the fly. We supplied a full servo system to oscillate the five torches.
4. PIPE INTERNAL DIAMETER OVERLAY
We supplied a special manipulator to a customer who wished to hard surface the internal surface of pipe used in the oil/tar sand industry. The machine was designed to apply hard surfacing in either the longitudinal or circumferential directions and to be able to cover 25ft lengths.
5. HARD SURFACING WITH TUNGSTEN CARBIDE
We have married the tungsten carbide dispenser to the Ver-O-Weld to give automatic control of the travel and oscillation width of the deposited beads.
6. HARDFACING OF SNOWMOBILE SKEG BARS
We built a special machine based on Vers-O-Weld architecture to hard-face Snowmobile front runner skeg bars. The holding platen that gripped the bars was divided into two areas to facilitate alternate load and unload zones. Position control was used for accurate weld placement. Special provisions were made to interrupt the weld paths where carbide inserts were placed.
7. SPECIAL WELD CART USED TO WELD INSIDE CIRCUMFERENTIAL SEAM OF RAIL TANK CARS
This aluminum cart was designed to fit through a 19" dia manhole opening of
a Rail Tank Car. The unit employed a level device to properly maintain
weld position. The cart had the ability to detect the arc position with
respect to the bottom dead center of the cylinder that is the tank car.
The error signal was used to modify the speed of the turning rolls used to rotate
the tank.
